11Secondclub animation May 2009: #21 place.

I re-renderd my animation after the 11Secondclub. My first animation contained a lot more background scenery. Which at the moment, I thought was pretty good. But after the voting, I got a lot of comments about the background. And needless to say after changing the background to nothing, the animation really popped out. So I learned learned my lesson, thanks to these people:

COMMENTS:
Danny:
I think this would be stronger without the background.

Matt Shepherd:
Staging, you need to give some more space for you character.

Serj Lebeda:
Helicopter distracts attention from the main character. Its more interesting to watch how the helicopter takes off!

Clayton Miller:
I had to watch it half a dozen times to really take in the character animation, the background was much too distracting.

Elliott Gibson II:
Nice render man. Star Trek seems to be the theme. I found myself looking at the Ship in the background more than the actual character though.

Tim Shim:
Love the Star Trek uniform. Good work with your animation. Though perhaps my only thought is that I don't understand the actions happening in the background and it tends to be more of a distraction than anything.

Ryan Lowe:
There is way too much going on in your clip. The background is in your direct line of interest. In an animation/acting/dialogue competition you want all focus on the actor/character. I didn't even see the main character until a few seconds in!

Jeronimo Maggi:
The background ship that is going uop is too distracting, but good work :P

Alexander Petreski:
That's really nice. The timing and acting work very good here. I'm not even sure if it's necessary to show the environment and the spaceships, it could have worked without it.

Bobb Strongman:
Loved the little nod at 109. The animation in the background seemed to detract from the speaker which is a shame because I thought the main animation was great.

Thanks to these people, I won't spend days and days on backgrounds like these, anymore..
